After her digital debut with The Trip 2, Amyra Dastur is pumped up for her second web show for an OTT platform. The actor, who was last seen in Made in China (2019), says, “The web has opened up more doors in terms of content and creativity. With theatrical releases, you have a limit, be it time or censorship, and films are judged based on box office numbers.”

Amyra, who will be seen playing a mysterious Kashmiri girl with grey shades in the show, says that the web is a “more satisfying” platform for an actor. She shares, “A web show or film is judged and criticised based on direction, screenwriting and acting. It’s a boon for the industry folk because you’re being praised or judged for your work. On the web, there’s more freedom and out-of-the-box thinking. It’s paving the road for great cinema and amazing stories.”

Her upcoming web show stars Saif Ali Khan in the lead and she’s happy to have shared screen space with him for the second time. “He’s a very sharp man. We worked together in Kaalakaandi (2018) and I was sure he wouldn’t remember me, but when I walked in to the first cast reading of the show, he immediately recognised me and greeted me and I was pleasantly surprised. He’s a fantastic actor,” Amyra says.

Amyra’s inclination for politics drew her to this project. “I’ve always kept up with current affairs, but after shooting for the show, I’ve to say that I’ve become obsessed with Indian politics. I’ve begun reading every newspaper to see if I’ve missed out on a particular news and have started following every news channel on Twitter to ensure I’m up to date on every single matter,” she says.
