Indian television has been through a lot of evolution, says Sourabh Raaj Jain
Actors have often been vocal about their hectic working schedules in the television industry. The latest to join the debate is Sourabh Raaj Jain. The actor, who’s playing a pivotal role in Patiala Babes, takes us back to the time when he had to shoot almost throughout the day to meet short deadlines. He elaborates, “It gets taxing sometimes. I’ve been a part of a lot of shows that required me to shoot round the clock. There was also a point, where I was shooting for a daily soap and a reality show at the same time, and so it definitely was a tiring period. A daily show does take up most of your time, which can get kind of tiresome.”
Sourabh’s currently trying to strike a balance between his work and family life. He says, “While shooting for Chandragupta Maurya, I was based out of Umbergaon, which is near the border of Gujarat, and so, it was definitely a struggle for me to achieve a balance between professional and personal life, but currently, I’m shooting much closer to where I live in Mumbai. I ensure that once I am done with my shoot, I make quality time for my family at home.”
The Mahakali – Anth Hi Aarambh Hai actor believes that over the years, Indian television has opened up to experiments in terms of content, subjects and themes. He says, “While shows are now getting divided into seasons, sequels and instalments, there has also been a lot of evolution with regards to new thought processes while creating content for a particular show.”
Sourabh further adds, “From the new supernatural genre that has taken over Indian television by storm to themes on women empowerment and youthoriented shows — I really feel that there is a change in the industry, as far as the current content creation for television is concerned.”
