Guru’s on an international high
After his successful collaboration with the international rapper, Pitbull, Guru Randhawa is now all set to release his second international number with singer-songwriter, Jay Sean. Produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, the song titled Surma Surma, releases today.
A source close to the singer says, “Guru has been evidently trying to bring in a huge change by getting several pop stars from around the world to collaborate with him in his videos. When Slowly Slowly had become a hit, he had promised his fans that he will collaborate with more such talents from the international music space. Director Gifty has filmed this number in Jaipur,
Rajasthan, while Guru has written, sung and composed the song. Jay Sean, who’s written the English lyrics of the track, has also sung the song along with Guru.”
The Proper Patola singer has always maintained that he wants to put India on the global map when it comes to quality music. And with this single, he attempts to do just that. Guru is elated to have Jay Sean join him in Surma Surma. He says, “I remember we used to listen to Jay Sean’s songs since my school days, especially Dance With Me. I used to love his style and singing. I always wanted to collaborate with him and finally, we are to able to do it with Surma. I have known him for a long time and truly had a great time working on this song. He flew down to India to shoot the video. This is a song which will definitely make everyone smile and groove. It has the right feel of Western and desi tunes.”
Jay Sean says that the collaboration with Guru happened “very naturally and organically”. “We met for the first time in London, UK, for a show that we were both performing at. We connected instantly and become good friends. One day, we were casually talking about how much fun it would be to do a song together and the result is this beautiful song, Surma Surma. The video shoot in India was the highlight of this journey. It was such a stunning location, and we laughed so hard between takes, it genuinely was a fun time. I can’t wait to put this out to the
world,” he says.
