Pankaj Tripathi feels that over the years, working with a few costars has been an eyeopening experience for him. The actor is known for bonding with his colleagues who share his artistic bent of mind. The set of his upcoming film, that’s based on India’s glorious victory in the Cricket World Cup 1983, was a learning ground for Pankaj. He says that Ranveer Singh’s energy and passion for his craft brought them closer and his “charged up” personality was able to infuse renewed zeal in him.

Sharing a common love for literature, Pankaj and his Mirzapur (2018) co-actor Ali Fazal discovered and discussed lesser known works of authors they both like. According to a source, “They exchanged a few notes and understood a universe far removed from theirs, thus extending beyond the knowledge of their own craft.”

Pankaj also shares a special bond with actor Rajkummar Rao. The source adds, “Even with his co-star Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj shares a love for writing and one for the kind of cinema the two follow. They have formed a special bond over the three films they have worked on together.”

He extensively discussed his craft with Vikrant Massey during the shooting of Criminal Justice, Richa Chadha, with whom he has worked in Shakeela, and his other Mirzapur co-stars — Rasika Dugal and Shweta Tripathi Sharma. The source adds that they would have conversations on the “importance of improv” to enhance their scenes together.

Talking about this, Pankaj says, “There’s no end to learning. There’s no age to learning either. And great teachers can come from anywhere. I thought as an actor, I was spending more time exhausting my craft but on different assignments. I met these actors and learnt different skills from each of them that helped me better my work process. It’s important for actors to learn from those around them and on that count, it has been a fulfilling journey for me.”
