Aparshakti Khurana believes that it’s important to take breaks between work. And so, the actor, who was busy shooting for an upcoming project, recently took a trip to Myanmar with his mother and aunt. He shares that it was a rejuvenating and nostalgic experience going back to his ancestral maternal home. “I’m a workaholic. Initially, working used to be a break in itself for me. However, some of my friends and family members have recently taught me about the importance of taking breaks,” he confides.
He’s happy to have spent quality time with his mother. “More than a break, it was a spiritual trip for me because I believe in my mother more than I do in God. To get to spend time with her and see her happy made me happy, and this trip worthwhile,” he shares.
Divulging details about his trip, Khurana says, “We explored Yangon and Mandalay and it was an experience beyond words. There were awe-inspiring temples, very welcoming locals who always greeted us with nothing but smiles and not to forget the very beautiful Pagodas that were breathtaking to witness,” he says, adding, “We were smitten by Rangoon Tea House that offered luscious Burmese food such as Jindauu, Laphetoh and Mandi. We were literally licking our fingers.”
Ask him about his favourite part of the trip and he says, “I got a chance to see my mother’s ancestral home. It was beautiful and very nostalgic for her. She excitedly shared some of her stories from that place with us which was a very memorable experience.”
The Dangal (2016) actor says that this break was particularly important and special as it gave him the opportunity to spend some time with his mother. “My mum isn’t a big city person. She likes it in Chandigarh and It had been quite some time since I went to Chandigarh to stay with her and to spend time with her. This time when she suggested we go to Myanmar, me and my maasi immediately agreed,” he says.
