Rani-Aditya name their girl Adira

Actor Rani Mukerji and filmmaker Aditya Chopra are now proud parents of a baby girl. The baby, who was born yesterday morning, has been named Adira, a derivation of the names — Aditya and Rani. “I’d like to thank all my well wishers and fans. Today life has given us God’s greatest gift with Adira. We thank our fans, friends and well wishers for their unconditional support and blessings. With joy we begin this new chapter in our lives,” Rani says.

Reports suggest that there is high security at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where Rani gave birth. The baby was expected in January, but arrived a month early.

Minutes after the news broke out, Adira trended on Twitter and many actors took to social media to wish the couple. “Rani and Aditya Chopra become proud parents to a baby girl named Adira. Congratulations! (sic)” posted veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, while Aditya’s younger brother actor Uday Chopra tweeted, “IT’S A GIRL!!!!! (sic)” Actor Parineeti Chopra also posted, “ITS A GIRL !!!! So so excited baby Adira is born !! #Adi #Rani (sic).

As a gift to Rani, it was said that Aditya, who will return to direction with Befikre, plans to release the film on the Friday around his child’s first birthday. There were reports that Aditya has done up the nursery lavishly and has even got someone from the US to decorate it.
