‘I’M NOT A QUITTER’

Priyanka Chopra may be very busy shooting for her American TV show and promoting her next movie, but she says she couldn’t ask for a better schedule

Getting to interview Priyanka Chopra is a task in itself. One day she is in Mumbai, and next she is shooting in Montreal. Her American TV show is being filmed in the Canadian city. Priyanka has also been busy promoting Bajirao Mastani.

Juggling the two projects has been hectic, but, as the 33-yearold actor says, nothing could give her more satisfaction than her current work schedule.

She is particularly happy with the praise her TV show has earned. “At first, it (the show) had only 13 episodes. Then, it got extended to 19, and now, it has gone up to 22. This only goes to show that the show has been accepted,” says Priyanka. She is quick to add that the extensive travelling doesn’t bother her. “I will go wherever my work takes me. I’m an army officer’s daughter; settling in at different places is easy for me,” she adds.

Back home, reports recently revealed that Priyanka had faced major problems while shooting for her next, and had even considered quitting the film on the third day of the shoot. Revealing what had hap- pened, she says, “I didn’t want to give up. No one gives up once you start working on a film. The process of getting into the character was difficult for me. It had nothing to do with Sanjay sir (Sanjay Leela Bhansali; director).” Priyanka says she found it tough to speak a 500-year-old dialect, and even the physical preparation for the role — wearing an 11-yard-long nauvari sari, which takes two hours to drape — was tiresome. She adds, “Kashi’s character (her role in Bajirao Mastani) is also heartbreaking. It really affected me. It was very overwhelming. But, I’m not a quitter.”
