When Delhi put on its running shoes
More than 34,000 enthusiasts ran at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon recently. The marathon provides a common platform to express one’s passion for health and fitness. The event was flagged off at the Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium. The stretch stood witness to race categories such as the Senior Citizens’ Run, Champions with Disability, Great Delhi Run, and Corporate Champions which was preceded by the Elite Men and Elite women races. With a surge in number of enthusiasts this year, S-Cross was the lead car guiding the racers through the tracks. The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross was the official car partner for the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon and there were separate lead cars for seperate races. While these cars lead the way for the racers, the clock on top of the car helped the race leaders judge and calculate their run timings. Vinay Pant, general manager — marketing, Maruti Suzuki, said, “It is great to see the spirit of people from various walks of life not competing with one another but rising above their limits. These people exhibit an ‘Above the Ordinary’ courage and determination which is true reflection of our premium crossover The S-Cross, which encompasses above the ordinary performance and comfort.” Bipasha Basu and Kenenisa Bekele, who holds the world record and Olympic record in both the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters events, were present at the flag off to encourage the marathon enthusiasts. Bipasha Basu and Kenenisa Bekele are also the official brand ambassadors of the ADHM. In the men’s category, Ethiopian Birhanu Legese won the race while Mosinet Geremew claimed the second spot. In the women’s category Kenyan Cynthia Limo came first, followed by Helah Kiprop.
