PeeCee to back new talent
Actor Priyanka Chopra (right), who recently launched her production house, says she is working to back new talent in regional as well as Hindi films.
“I have launched my production house. I want to work with and push new talent because when I entered the film industry, I didn’t know anyone and getting a foothold is tough. For all those who come from outside, getting a break is difficult,” says Priyanka, adding, “I also want to promote regional cinema. I’m working on three regional films and two Hindi films. I will soon make an announcement.”
The actor, however, rules out directing, saying it’s an “immense responsibility”. Priyanka, who’s had a busy year with Dil Dhadakne Do, Bajirao Mastani and the international TV series, Quantico, says, “This year’s been extremely overworked for me. It’s almost as if I need 36 hours in a day. It’s been very fulfilling professionally. Next year is going to be more difficult because my show (Quantico) has become so successful that it got extended from 13 to 22 episodes.”
However, balancing a career both in India and abroad, is tough for the actor. “I don’t want to choose and I don’t think I should,” she says. Quantico might get a second season due to its success. “I’ll be able to do two films between both the seasons. In Hindi films, I have a choice of six interesting films, and two Hollywood. But I can’t do all. I’ll decide only by January. It’s a heartbreaking decision.”
