Two-wheeled salute to the nation
A group of bikers take to the streets today to salute the nation and unite in the feeling of patriotism
The national flag waving atop a two-wheeled beauty, the winter wind against your chest and yet you don’t feel cold; the feeling of patriotism fills your heart with warmth and pride. Started as a concept by Tarique Afaque of the Royal Maverick biker group, the Nation Salute ride had a very humble start with 58 riders in the first year, and 450 riders for their next one.
This year, however, is not only about numbers but the feeling of being united with patriotism. The ride will start early morning at Indraprastha Millennium Park and will take approximately a 60km route to Palm Green Hotel & Resort, G.T.Karnal Road via Akshardham, Geeta Colony, Pushta Road and Kashmiri Gate. But before the ride starts, the riders will switch on their engines, stand beside their bikes with flags in their hands and will sing the National Anthem.
“Nation Salute Ride, as the name says, is all about saluting our nation, its glory and all those who make it a better place to be in. We have not only ensured that the Delhi bulleteers enjoy the ride, but have also made all the arrangements and taken permission for safety and a glitch-free ride too. Other safety measures have always been a priority and we have pushed them this year too,” says Tarique.
