Films motivate Farhan to stay fit

-

Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar (left), whose last big screen outing was Bejoy Nambiar’s Wazir, says the variety of roles that come his way motivates him to stay fit. “I think we (actors) are fortunate that we have a reason apart from just staying fit ... that we can do something about it (fitness) and bring it into performance. So, there’s even more motivation to keep doing it (staying fit),” Farhan said.

The 42-year-old had worked out for 13 months for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013). His role in Nambiar’s directorial also required him to be lean and muscular. The actor had gone through months of training to get the right look.

Do erratic workout schedules and constant changes in diet affect an actor’s health? “It makes you look great! I think that happens,” he said. “It’s actually tougher when you are not doing it in all honesty. When you don’t have any discipline in terms of your fitness or what you eat, that’s when it takes a toll,” Farhan added.

Meanwhile, Farhan and his wife of 15 years, Adhuna Akhtar, announced their decision to separate “mutually and amicably” last week.

The couple exchanged wedding vows in 2000 and have two daughters together, named Shakya and Akira.
