Says Sidharth reacting to reports that Alia threw a party to introduce him as her boyfriend
After four years and six in Bollywood, actor Sidharth Malhotra says it is difficult to be peaceful in the industry, still he is grateful for it. In a candid chat, he talks about his career, crushes, and the comfort level with alleged girlfriend, actor Alia Bhatt. Excerpts:
Your personal life is always under the scanner, especially with regards to Alia Bhatt.
Stars and media share an interesting relationship. I read Karan Johar’s article that media and actors are like husband and wife, who keep having tiffs. I agree with him. You don’t leave your wife, you learn to bear with her and appreciate the good things (smiles), without taking certain opinions to heart. It’s difficult, but as long as it doesn’t cause any harm or malice, I have learnt how to bear with it.
Did Alia throw a party to introduce you as her boyfriend?
Alia is not launching me in a film; Karan did that four years back. So, she doesn’t need to introduce me. Even I was surprised about what was written, but it’s not true.
Alia says she is fond of you and you are a special person in her life. Is it just friendship or more than that?
I think nobody can decide that. No one knows what can happen in the future. We want to make the best of our time (in the industry), and during that process, you meet people you connect with. I have done two films with Alia, so, it’s only natural that we both have a lot of fondness for each other. I endorse what she said as there’s a great amount of comfort level because of the work we have done together.
So she is just a colleague?
Yes, Alia is a very dear colleague (smiles).
You have worked with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Katrina Kaif. Were you ever their fan?
These are two women I’ve had major crushes on. I am a big Bebo fan and have always admired Katrina’s work. It was exciting to work with them. It was like a dream coming true when Katrina was dancing next to me or doing a scene. Both the actors are extremely attractive.
You are a Delhi boy, so being an outsider, how difficult is it to survive in Bollywood?
It is a big task. Now that I’m here, I don’t want to be average or mediocre. I want to be the best.
