Actor Pooja Hegde says she never imagined taking up acting in her earlier years

Model turned actor Pooja Hegde (left) who made her debut alongside actor Hrithik Roshan in the film Mohenjo Daro, says she never imagined that she would be in Bollywood.

“I never thought I would get into films, because I was such a tomboy and would never touch make up or wear fashionable clothes. I was not the child who would go to my mother’s room and put on lipstick. I would wear boyish clothes and big glasses,” says Hegde who played the role of princess Chaani in the Ashutosh Gowarikar’s directorial.

It was her participation in a beauty contest which changed things for her.

“I was participating in a dance show in college, when the pageant organisers spotted me. When I took that step in my career, things changed drastically. I started dressing up in a feminine manner after the pageant. Now here I am in the film industry and I am enjoying everything I am doing,” she says.

The 25-year-old actor now aims at working with actor Ranveer Singh because she likes his high levels of energy.

“I want to work with Ranveer Singh. There is something about his energy which is so amazing. Not just Ranveer, I want to work with even Varun (Dhawan) and definitely with Fawad (Khan) because he is just so hot!” says Hegde. The actor is going through some scripts and is yet to decide her next project.
