I’ve to tell people that I direct films too: Johar

-

Filmmaker Karan Johar (right) may be busy with his talk show right now, but he says directing movies hasn’t taken a back seat.

“I’ve solemnly resolved that I’ll be back on sets as a director next year, towards the end. My heart lies in television but my soul lies in films,” says Karan.

The filmmaker, who has been judging television shows lately, says, “I have covered all on television. If there are other ideas, then I will see. I think the more reality shows the better. Whatever offer comes my way I will see. I can’t say no to television.”

The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil helmer thinks he has become a television personality.

“Now films are seeming to be an incidental part of my personality. People ask me about talk show and it’s embarrassing that I’ve to tell people I direct and produce films as well,” he adds.

“The impact of television is more. Three percent of our country watch films and 25-30 percent watch television, so it’s nine times more impactful. So my wish to be on national television has only helped my brand as filmmaker. I am thankful to television for that,” he says.

The filmmaker, who will be a part of a music reality show as a judge, confesses that he cannot sing, but has a good ear for music. “I have zero knowledge in singing. But I’ve been listening to Hindi film music for 40 years.”
