SAQIB GOES BACK TO HINDU AGAIN

The actor visited his alma mater, Hindu College, on Tuesday and relived his college memories

Actor Saqib Saleem is a Hindu College alumnus, and on his recent visit to the Capital, the 28-year-old made sure that he visited his alma mater, despite a busy schedule. Chatting with HT City as he walked around the college, he shared several anecdotes from his college life. Excerpts:

On getting suspended for three months: The then principal rusticated me for 3 months and put posters outside the college that had my name, along with a few others, saying that we were barred from entering the premises. We were wrongly convicted of ragging. We had only made a junior sing and offered him juice later. I tried explaining that to the principal but she didn’t listen. However, that did not stop me from coming to college. I loved coming to college so much that I was here every day despite the suspension.

On his alma mater: I’ve practicall­y lived here, especially on this ground. I used to play cricket in college and every morning we used to be here at 7 for our practice. There used to be a tubewell here and I would make sure that all the boys jump in there and take a bath, change before going for classes.

Chilling at KNags: We would love the shakes at Kamla Nagar market or KNags as it’s popularly called. At that time, the place used to be very different, things weren’t as commercial then. We would make sure to have, at least, two shakes before coming to college. We would save up money for the shakes and plan our day’s finance accordingl­y.
