WHEN RANVEER, VAANI BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN
The actors entertained fans and upped the fun quotient as they danced, clicked selfies and joked away
When actor Ranveer Singh is in the house,, you can expect to be blown away by his high-octane energy. And true to his reputation, Singh, who along with actor Vaani Kapoor turned up to meet the winners of HT City Stars In The City Contest, brought the house down.
The hour-long interaction with fans, during which they also promoted their film Befikre, was nothing short of a roller- coaster ride. From taking countless selfies with his fans, doing his signature dance steps to getting everyone in splits with his witty one-liners, Singh was at this crazy best, and Vaani matched steps with him, all the way.
On being asked why he’s always naughty, pat came the reply, “Naughty film ka promotion kar raha hoon na, iss liye! (I am promoting a naughty film, that’s why).”
Asked if he has always been this crazy, he said, “I was always crazy, but I became hot later. I used to be fat as a teenager. At 14, I went to America for three months, and when I came back from the trip, I had become thinner and taller. I got attention from many girls, and I never said no to it.” In fact, he revealed that he dated three girls at the same time. “All three were from the same area, so I could manage time,” he laughed.
While Ranveer has had a great stint in Bollywood so far, he admits that there were things that bothered him earlier. “When I started out I used to get highly affected by criticism and people’s judgment. I slowly started to come to terms with it and realised that I just have to be myself,” said Singh, explaining how he got his carefree attitude. “People will judge one way or the other – what I say or what I wear, the way I behave... so slowly I lost the fear of judgment and became carefee.”
Acustom-made movie-themed cake, a jar of Nutella, handwritten cards with love messages, and fans screaming with excitement — that’s how actors Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor were welcomed when they came down to meet the winners of HT City Stars In The City contest, recently.
In conversation with Sonal Kalra, National Editor – Entertainment and Lifestyle, the duo spoke extensively about their film Befikre, as well as shared some not-so-known anecdotes about each other.
For instance, when Vaani was asked to share three lesser known traits of her co-star, she said, “He loves toilet humour.” And at this point, Ranveer pitched in saying, “It helps break the ice.” Vaani also shared that the outgoing, always-in-action Ranveer, prefers to sometime just stay still. “Not many know that there are times when he needs to just sit quiet, calm and composed and not get hyper,”er,” she added, “And he is an extremely sensitive person...erson... May be he comes with toilet humour to deflect attentionntion from his sensitive side.”de.”
Talking about how it felt to work in an Aditya Chopra directorial, Vaani said, “He’s a legend.nd. I feel very responsible,, as I am the biggest riskk factor for him in the movie. He has shown immense faithith in me from thee beginning. He’s special to me and he always will be.”
Ranveer, in his signature charm, pitched in, “Don’t call him (Aditya) a legend. He himself said, ‘I am a first timer only, so you should treat me like that.” And he added, “But I am also very scared of him. Even today, whenever he walks into the room, I stand up. It’s like a reflex action.”
I try to find joy in everything I do. I get very excited about every opportunity and I make the most of everything thinking there is no tomorrow. I give my best to it RANVEER SINGH, ACTOR
