Anu-Sonu-Farah trio is back on television

-

The original trio of judges — singer Sonu Nigam, filmmaker Farah Khan and music composer Anu Malik — is back after 12 years with yet another season of Indian Idol on Sony Entertainment Television. Picking up from where they left off, the judges — with their cool chemistry, unique equation and distinctive personalities — promise an entertaining season nine. This time around, Anu, Sonu and Farah will be focusing on the contestants’ awaaz, riyaaz and andaaz.

Danish Khan, EVP and business head, Sony Entertainment Television, said, “We have a dedicated time – 8pm – on the weekends, which will continue to bring unseen talent to our viewers. Super Dancer saw some amazing dancers, and now with Indian Idol, we intend to take this legacy ahead. The original trio of judges is a lethal combination in the world of music and their chemistry, coupled with the outstanding singers, will surely create magic on television screens.”

Contestants like LV Revanth, who is already a singing sensation in South India with a movie like Baahubali (2015) to his credit, want Indian Idol to be a platform to gain entry into Bollywood. Hearing Khuda Baksh, a contestant from Mukhtasar, Punjab, Anu Malik said, “Khuda ne isey Indian Idol ke liye bakshahai”. Mohit Chopra’s soulful voice had the audience confined to the jagratas until now, but with Indian Idol 9, he will reach out to millions across the nation.

Join the judges as they embark on a quest to find the country’s next idol starting tonight (December 24), every Saturday and Sunday at 8pm, only on Sony Entertainment Television.
