In a heart-to-heart chat Arjun Rampal talks about his family life and Vidya Balan opens up on her signature love for saris

It was a gala time when actors Vidya Balan and Arjun Rampal visited HT City to meet the winners of Stars in the City contest. In conversation with Sonal Kalra, National Editor — Entertainment and Lifestyle, the trio was at their candid best, as they answered questions from fans, clicked selfies with them and even shook a leg to Vidya’s popular number ‘Oh La La’.

When Vidya was asked to choose between her favourite roles — Silk Smitha from The Dirty Picture (2011) and Vidya Bagchi from Kahaani, (2012), she says, “Now that’s very tough. Silk was very different from who I am in real life. I enjoyed that. And Vidya (Baghchi) is close to who I am, so I enjoy that too. I can’t choose between the two.”

When complimented on her individualistic sense of style and her collection of saris, Vidya says, “I get this from my mom. In my growing up years, I’ve seen her wearing saris only. I think my idea of beauty is tied closely with a sari,” adding, “I still have a picture of myself, at the age of five, draped in one of her mom’s saris.”

There were several aww moments, when the female fans of Rampal shouted ‘I love you Arjun.’ Vidya Balan and Arjun Rampal were seen together Kahaani 2. When asked on how he compensates the time when he is away from family for shooting, he says, “There’s no stress. During summers, I take off for 2 months and go for a holiday with my family.”
