If you are planning to jazz up your place with vintage décor, we have some good news for you. The revival of vintage and antique furniture is on the upswing as more people are turning to this décor theme.

Markets across the city are full of such décor ideas, such as wrought iron furniture, wood items in patina finish and big brass fixtures. Places like Dilli Haat and Lajpat Nagar are preferred haunts as they offer great steals.

“The antique look is in. People are moving beyond the fully-finished look and want to break the monotony in their living spaces,” says interior designer Punam Kalra. While clean, open spaces with contemporary décor is preferred, indulging in this theme is a guilty pleasure for décor enthusiasts. “Even with the modern décor movement, vintage never really went away. Elements from the yesteryears always add drama,” says interior designer Gautam Dhawan.

Another rustic element that can be added to this kind of décor is coloured lamps and lanterns. “Tones of blue, red, green and yellow add a moody glow as they create ambient lighting,” adds Dhawan.

Doing up your house with vintage pieces of furniture and décor not only adds an old world charm, but also gives a royal feel. “One odd-looking chest, a centre table and a couple of corner tables added to an existing décor theme make a big difference,” adds Kalra.
