CELEBRATING INNOVATION
The connoisseurs of textile got together at this twoday exhibit of Cashmere innovation in the Capital. Many turned up to celebrate the launch of Taani by Tanira Sethi, at Patine, DLF Emporio on the weekend of January 14 and 15.
The collection includes pure Cashmere saris, handpainted variations and one-of-its-kind Cashmere lace saris. Muted tones with a hint of reds made up the creations. The young designer’s work received a great response, and was a sell-out.
Tanira, a NIFT Delhi graduate in textile design, did her masters at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, where the idea took shape. “I combined art, design, fashion and heritage for the collection. I’d see beautiful seven-metre shawls, but always wondered why they couldn’t be translated into saris,” says the 23-year-old. The world’s first-ever Cashmere lace sari, which took almost a year of R&D, incorporated fine Cashmere Leaver’s lace fabric conceptualised by Ezma Fine Cashmere and woven by Beauvillian Davoine France.
Shon Randhawa, founder, Patine, says: “We are delighted to have Tanira Sethi launch her collection of Cashmere weaves at Patine. She is passionate about her craft and we wish her success.” Sameer Mehra of Ezma says: “Tanira’s passion, dedication and creativity is remarkable. She has delicately incorporated her design sense into sheer elegance that exudes warmth in every aspect. She has achieved a balance of classic and contemporary.”
