‘Today’s heroines are clones of each other’

- Rukmini Chopra

Ihave never been a person who likes to work round the clock,” says actor Bipasha Basu. And now she is enjoying her married life (with Karan Singh Grover) and is also focusing on some upcoming film projects and a venture that promotes handcrafted jewellery for working women. Excerpts from an interview...

Same pinch

Bispasha says today’s heroines look the same to her. “Majority of them have become an extension of their stylist’s choices. Everyone looks the same. One is a clone of the other. I think there are a very few who make a longlasting impression,” she says.

Mommy to be?

Last year, several media reports suggested that Bipasha was expecting her first child. Speaking of the pregnancy rumours, the actor says, “Everybody thinks pregnancy has to be the next thing after marriage. I truly believe that a couple needs to spend some time together before bringing a child into the picture. It’s a honeymoon phase for Karan and me, and I don’t think I want to burden it with that much more responsibility, immediately.”

But not in all fairness

Bipasha in an interview had spoken about how she was poked fun at for her being dusky. And while she says Bollywood has started accepting dusky as “sexy,” India as a nation continues to be obsessed with fair skin. “As much as we say that we are not obsessed with fair skin, it’s the biggest lie in the world. And it’s an obsession that is not going to go away quickly,” she says.
