Paudwal’s ‘prasad’ for her hard work

In his new film, a sequel to Jolly LLB, Akshay plays a lawyer. The Khiladi star said that director Subhash Kapoor had all the case files and had a clear idea of how a courtroom should look like. “Everything was prepared. I just followed what he said and made sure I excel in that. That’s the only preparatio­n I did,” he added.

The courtroom comedy-drama revolves around a struggling lawyer who wants to pursue his dream of becoming a famous and accomplish­ed lawyer. Talking about the subject of the film, the 49-year-old expressed that people haven’t lost faith in the judiciary, but are disappoint­ed due to the delay in making the judgement. “The lawyers and judges are giving their level best. But there are over 3 crore cases that are pending because there are only 21,000 judges,” he said.

Actor Richa Chadha (left), who’s known for her portrayal of offbeat characters in Bollywood, says that she wants to educate children through her films. She is inspired by her mother, who is a teacher in Delhi University. The actor recently produced a short film, which she decided to take to small towns in order to spread education through cinema. “My mother is someone my entire family looks up to. She is an educator and has worked her entire life towards being a teacher. She’s an inspiratio­n for me. My short film, which I produced, happened to be based on historical events. And having an educator in my family, I was keen to take the film to educationa­l institutes and make people aware,” says Chadha, who produced the short film Khoon Aali Chithi.

Paudwal, 64, is a National Award-winning singer, who has sung in Bollywood movies such as Aashiqui (1990) and Ram Lakhan(1989), Saajan (1991) and Dil (1990), besides having several devotional songs, bhajans, mantras and stotras to her credit. “I am very grateful. It is a wonderful honour to get from the Indian government. I’ve been singing devotional songs for so long and I feel the honour is the ‘prasad’ for all my hard work,” Paudwal says.

She adds, “I would like to thank the audience because they have always been supportive of my work throughout my 45-year career. I would like to thank my family, my elders and all the teachers.”

Other singers who have been honoured include K J Yesudas (Padma Vibhushan), Grammywinn­ing musician Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Padma Bhushan) and Kailash Kher (Padma Shri). “It is wonderful because it shows that the government
