With three days of power-packed performances, numerous competitions and standup comedy––Lady Shri Ram College (LSR) for Women’s fest, Tarang 2017 was nothing less than a success. The annual cultural festival witnessed a crowd of over 15,000 students. “When demonetisation was introduced, we had lost all appetite and sleep wondering how we’d organise the fest. But standing up on stage today and seeing 15,000 people enjoy, has made all the stress worth it,” says Shambhavi Diggi, cultural secretary, students’ union of LSR.

The first day of the fest kick-started with competitions such as slam poetry, umbrella painting, on-the-spot photography, and performances by singers Kanika Kapoor, and Prateek Kuhad, who performed his own compositions.

On the second day, students participated in Acapella–the inter-college Western music competition, Mudra – classical dance competition, a treasure hunt, pop culture quiz for pop enthusiasts, and more.

The final day witnessed Nukkad – a street play competition, Battle of Bands, and Western dance competitions. The icing on the festive cake was standup comedy by Kenny Sebastian, and singer Lucky Ali’s performance.

“The students were so excited they almost crossed the barricades at one point. One of the most amazing crowds I’ve seen,” Sebastian said. Ali who was nervous before performing, said after the show, “This is one of the best gigs I’ve ever performed.”
