I ONLY CARE ABOUT THE BIRTHDAY CAKE: ALIA BHATT

The actor turns 24 today, and shares her birthday plans. Also says link-up with Sid Malhotra isn’t just a rumour

- Prashant singh hat’s the birthday plan? prashant.singh@hindustantimes.com ■

WIt’s going to be my first birthday in my new house. Honestly, other than that, it’s a special birthday simply due to my family and friends. It’s an excuse to get together and celebrate. It’s not like I hate my birthdays but I don’t really get into or understand big celebrations. I am turning 24 and it’s like entering the mid20s zone. So, that’s quite interesting. There’s one thing that I am particular about – cake. And, it has been this way since my 17th or 18th birthday. So, if I am not able to get my cake, I tell someone else that mere ko is particular type ka cake chahiye. This time, I have told my sister that I want a white cake with chocolate inside. I don’t care much about gifts, parties. I only care about the cake. Do you feel a little more mature? I am not conscious about my age. There are some people who don’t want to turn a year older. I want to turn a couple of years older, so that people don’t call me a ‘kid’ any longer (smiles). Recently, you were in the news for a threat call. Was it scary? It can happen to anyone. My father calls it an occupational hazard. Honestly, since I was in the middle of promotions for my film, I didn’t want to be disturbed and bothered. My father sort of felt that. He just said, ‘you need to know about it but there’s nothing to worry about.’ Thanks to him, Mumbai and UP Police, they got to it immediately to make sure there’s nothing to worry about. You recently said that Karan Johar’s kids are like your brother and sister…

I was discussing it with Karan that ‘I am like your daughter. So, I can’t be their aunt. So, they have to be my brother and sister.’ Maybe, I am one of the only people, who will qualify to be Yash and Roohi’s aunt. A headline recently said ‘rumoured couple’ Alia and Sidharth went for lunch… It’s not a rumour. I did go for the lunch (laughs). There should be a new word for ‘rumoured lovebirds.’ I’m tired of seeing the same. I find it entertaining, and am sure so does Sid.
