Actor Neha Sharma (right), who did Chinese-Indian historical film Xuanzang last year, says she wants to do one in Bollywood as well. “I would like to do such a film here too. In fact, I would love to work with [filmmaker] Sanjay Leela Bhansali as the man does it [period drama] brilliantly,” Neha says about Bhansali (inset), who has helmed historical films such as Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Goliyon Ki Raasleela RamLeela (2013).

Asked about her experience of shooting Xuanzang, Neha says she was impressed with the authenticity of the film’s sets. “The kind of detailing done on every little thing that was part of the sets was pretty much authentic, like it would have been in those times. The film was about the journey of a scholar, Xuanzang through India. The people on the sets were all wonderful and warm.”

Neha, who will be making a special appearance in a film starring actor Anil Kapoor, says she had an amazing time shooting him. “It was great working with Anil Kapoor. I think he is a wonderful actor. I have always admired his work and he is so warm and he has an energy about him that makes working with him a real pleasure,” she says.

Neha, who has been a part of films such as Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story (2013) and Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum (2012), says she is happy with her career graph. “I’m pretty much in a happy space, doing the kind of work I am doing. And this is the best place to be, where you can choose what you want to do, and when you want to do — no one is trying to tell you that this is the way you have to do it,” she says.
