‘I want to create independen­t music’

Along with playback singing for Bollywood films, Ankit Tiwari (right) wants to concentrat­e on independen­t music. Known for his songs such as Sun Raha Hai Na Tu (from Aashiqui 2, 2013), Tu Hai Ki Nahi (from Roy, 2015) and Dil Cheez Tujhe Dedi (from Airlift, 2015), the singercomp­oser feels that the Indie-space allows him to experiment more.

“Independen­t music scene has a lot of scope for us. I’ve been thinking of exploring it for quite some time. I feel the Indie space allows an artist to experiment a lot more in terms of sound, lyrics, music etc. Unfortunat­ely, independen­t music ko India mein utna importance nahi milta hain. But in the West, artists are doing so good,” he says.

Ask him about his upcoming musical ventures and Ankit says, “There are a few tracks that I’m working on and I’ll start releasing them online. There are about 12 songs and we will release one song per month.”

The lyrics of the tracks, composed and sung by Ankit, have been penned by Abhay Upadhyay, along with other newcomers. The singer with his band are currently giving final touches to the songs.

Ankit will also collaborat­e with music artists from India and abroad in the coming years. “I can’t reveal the names now, but yes, I have certain plans,” he says, who was recently in news after he was acquitted in a 2014 rape case. he started as an anchor, moved into acting in TV shows, made her Bollywood debut with Dangal and now features in a web series. Actor Sakshi Tanwar (left) loves how her successful 16-year career in Indian showbiz has lend her the freedom to choose the pace, nature and medium of work she wants to do. She says that nothing is more satisfying than having this choice. “An actor reaches a stage where he has the freedom to choose work irrespecti­ve of the medium. And that is what we are enjoying right now because we have given so many years to our profession and it’s the most satisfying phase where you can choose what you want to do.”

For Sakshi, it is mostly a “one thing at a time” policy that works best. She says, “I could never handle more than one thing at a time. I give whatever I can to one project as I can’t run from one set to
