‘MOM WANTS A GRANDCHILD’

Bipasha and husband Karan want more time as a couple, but her family wants that ‘good news’ soon

Actor couple Bipasha Basu (left) and Karan Singh Grover celebrated their first wedding anniversary last month. The two are known for posting videos and pictures, in which they’re playfully affectionate with each other, on Instagram. Bipasha tells us that she and Karan want to enjoy this time and are in no hurry to start a family. “We love babies. But [we] need more ‘alone time’ together — once the baby arrives, it’s always only ‘baby time,’” says the 38-year-old.

Their families seem to think differently. “My mom is very keen to have a granddaughter soon,” says Bipasha.

It’s a common belief that marriage and babies often hinder a female actor’s career; a man hits no such hurdle.

Bipasha says that it’s about time both genders were treated equally. “[Female] actors are human beings — we fall in love and get married. Career and personal life are two different aspects of everyone’s life. I wish we were treated the same way, too,” she says, but then points out that “things are changing positively for married [female] actors, though”.

For now, Bipasha is busy reading scripts, and handling endorsements and her work in fitness.
