When Sushant couldn’t recognise Rajkummar

Sushant Ringh Rajput (right) didn’t recognise his friend and co-star Rajkummar Rao (below) when he saw him in his get-up for the film Raabta, in which he plays a 324-year-old man. “When he first came on the set, I just couldn’t recognise him. I did not know it was him! It was only a while later, when he started talking on the sets, that I realised it was him,” Sushant says. “I didn’t know that he was also in the film. I was ecstatic after I knew that he is working in this film,” he adds.

The 31-year-old actor says, that just like Rajkummar, he too, spent many hours doing makeup for the film. “His look was more elaborate, so that took a lot of time. But I, too, spent a lot of time doing make- up and getting the look right for the film. Apart from that, there was a lot of martial arts that I had to learn,” he adds.

Since both of them come from Delhi, Sushant says that Rajkummar is his good friend, and he was thrilled that they were working together after Kai Po Che (2012). In an earlier interview, talking about his friendly appearance in the film, Rajkummar said that he had a great time shooting for the role. “It was so much fun as an actor. Dinoo (Dinesh) has a very clear vision as a director and he gave me a lot of freedom as an actor to explore,” he said.
