Understanding and curing migraines
Amigraine can be debilitating—with symptoms so severe that all you can think of is finding a dark, quiet place to lie down. Though painful, majority of headaches don’t indicate a serious disorder and non-chronic cases may be relieved by medicines and/or changes in lifestyle.
Usually migraine results in episodes of severe or moderate headache (which is often one-sided and pulsating). It could last for anytime between several hours to three days. It may be accompanied by gastro-intestinal upsets, such as nausea, vomiting and heightened sensitivity to bright light and noise.
According to Dr SPS Bakshi, CMD Bakson Group, the root cause of migraine is nothing but an endogenic/hereditary allergy. The patient could be susceptible to such painful migraine episodes alternating with other disorders such as digestive upsets, joint pains and breathing disorders.
There are two common manifestations of this syndrome. One is the classical migraine with aura and other one is a common migraine, without aura. Both of them have a connection with genes. Hormonal migraine is another type of migraine, which is a likely consequence of periodically falling hormone levels. It again highlights the internal imbalance in the body of the patient. Other triggering factors include foods such as chocolate and alcohol, stress, changes in weather or sensory stimuli like bright light.
It has also been observed by Dr Bakshi in his clinical practice that migraine is a type of rheumatic headache which, if suppressed, results in arthritis in later life. Pain killers can only alleviate or mitigate the pain for a short while, but it must be treated to curb recurrence. So, this can be done effectively by homoeopathy.
Some of the commonly used medicines are: Sanguinaria 30: Hammering pain in the right side of the head, sun headache.
Spigelia 30: Semi-lateral headaches, involving the left side of the head, usually extending to eyes.
Bakson’s Mig Aid Tablets: Effective in all types of headache especially migraine. Take one tablet four times a day. Children can take one tablet (paediatric pack) thrice daily.
Dr. Bakshi’s #B12 (Headache) Drops: Tension alleviates indisposition and leads to continuous headaches. Take 10 drops in half cup of water thrice in a day. Children should take half the adult dose.
All the medicines are to be taken under the supervision of a registered homoeopathic medical practitioner only.
