Shed that jhijhak, urges Gambhir

How many times have you wanted to say thank you to or appreciate our soldiers protecting the nation? It’s time you shed that hesitation, or jhijhak as it’s called in local parlance, urges cricketer Gautam Gambhir.

A few days ago, he posted a photo on Twitter: His mouth tied, Gauti held a placard that read ‘jhijhak’. He had revealed nothing about the campaign. Now, we tell you, it’s part of the Bharat Positive campaign by the radio station, Fever 104 FM.

Gambhir has made a short, silent video using placards, urging civilians to thank soldiers. You can also click a selfie with the soldiers, and post it on Twitter, with the hashtag #BharatPositive. “I’m promoting respect for the soldiers. We may not be able to do great things, but the bare minimum we can do is thank them, salute them, shake hands with them... anything that tells them that we care,” explains Gambhir, who is known to support the Indian Armed Forces.

Recently, the cricketer donated the prize money he won as the Man of the Match during the Indian Premier League to the family of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) security personnel martyred during the Sukma attack (April 24). He also pledged to bear the expenses for the education of the children of the 25 personnel. Glad to be associated with the Bharat Positive campaign, he says, “The name itself had me excited. In the negativity that surrounds us, this is what I wanted to focus on.”

Gambhir adds that every nation has its challenges, but people must focus on the good aspects. “Bharat Positive is designed to focus on that... Be proud of the fact that we are born in this great country,” he concludes.
