Our film is a cute love story: Zoya

Even the most seasoned actors confess that they feel nervous on the day of their film’s release, and it isn’t any different for Zoya Afroz (left), who plays the titular role in the film Sweetiee Weds NRI, which releases today. “There is a lot of nervous excitement. I have stopped feeling hungry and I sleep just for an hour or two a day. All I want now is for the audience to watch the film and appreciate our work,” says Zoya. Sweetiee Weds NRI is a cute love story set in the backdrop of a wedding and is replete with comedy, foottapping music and dance routines. “The protagonists Sweetiee (Zoya) and Akash (Himansh Gupta) have a Tom and Jerry kind of love story. Sweetiee is the bossy girlfriend while Akash is the quiet guy who always panders to all her wishes. I think every girl will relate to this,” says Zoya, who will also be seen grooving to Jasbir Jassi’s popular song Dil Le Gayi Kudi Gujarat Di, in the film.

“Music is the other high point of the film. We have great songs by the likes of Arijit Singh and Atif Aslam. Both for Himansh and me, our songs in our previous films have given us a lot of recognition. We expect the same this time too,” she says.

Sweetiee Weds NRI is written by Tariq Mohammad and directed by Hasnain Hyderabadwala. It is co-produced by Dhaval Patel, Cyrus Dastur, Sada Bhuvad and Tariq Mohammad. Sharad Patel is the associate producer. The film releases today.
