Filmmaker Suneel Darshan’s son, Shiv Darshan made his Bollywood debut in 2014 with Karle Pyaar Karle. After a three-year break, he is back in a film helmed by his father. “I was getting offers but I didn’t like them enough to be able to do them. I knew that I didn’t want to do something I did not believe in. Instead, I utilised the time to work on myself,” says the actor, who plays the lead in Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha.

Being born in a film family has its positives, but it’s equally important to be talented, says Shiv. “I feel blessed to be a filmmaker’s son, but it’s also a lot of responsibility. You get roles but after that you need to connect with the audience.”

After a long break, does he feel the pressure? “I’m nervous and excited, but I don’t feel pressurised... Acting is intoxicating and I’m excited to face the arc lights,” says Shiv, who is most excited about getting to work with his dad. “He’s returning to action after long. Also, Nadeem sir is composing the music... The film is a romantic musical mystery. To be honest, I haven’t seen too many films like this, and that’s why it’s our unique selling point.”
