Keeping the great legacy intact

- HTC

It’s almost impossible for anyone visiting Old Delhi to not make a visit at the iconic Karim’s. The history of this gastronomic delight for non-vegetarians dates back to 1911, when the British Empire in India shifted its Capital from Calcutta to Delhi and a grand Delhi Darbar was organised. Around this time, Karimuddin decided to set up a stall — with a two-course menu: aloo-gosht and dal — for those attending the Darbar, near Jama Masjid what is now Gate No 1 of Delhi’s Jama Masjid. In a couple of years, he decided to open an eatery in the locality and within a few years, Karim’s moved to the premises it now occupies. In its 100th year, Karim has expanded its reach to Global Foyer Building, Gurgaon and Pusa Road, Karol Bagh. This also marked a change — with these outlets, Karim’s endeavours to enhance fine dining experience and importance is being given to the ambience. The menu at these outlets is same as the one at Jama Masjid outlet. They have kept the authentic taste intact by procuring the best quality ingredients that the place is famous for. Zoheb, co-owner of Karim’s, says, “People have really liked the change in ambience and reduced oil in the food, which is encouraging us to open Karim’s in various formats depending on the location and the customer profile.”

Address: Karim’s, GF – 4, Global Foyer Building, Golf Course Road, Sec 43, Gurgaon 0124-4224146/7/8 and 17, Pusa Road, Opposite City Hospital, Karol Bagh, New Delhi. 011-47234440/9
