The second edition of Suthol Pathikrit Samman was held recently in Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata. Suthol Pathikrit Samman was instituted in 2015 by The Boroline People — a research driven organisation — to honour and express collective gratitude to the Pathikrits— men and women who with their spirit of leadership and empathy are silently working to help the helpless.
General Secretary of Bharat Sevashram Sangha Swami Biswatmananda, homeopath Dr Prasanta Banerji, dancer Alokananda Ray, social reformer Malaya Goswami, Assamese actor Anindyo Chatterjee came together to honour the three Pathikrits— Kamal Chakraborty of Bhalopahar, Gaurav Ma Snehlata Hooda of Gurgaon and Kalikaprasad Bhattacharya of Dohar.
Kamal Chakraborty was felicitated for his work in Purulia district in West Bengal for afforestation and tribal education, while Gaurav Ma Snehlata Hooda was honoured for starting and running a school for the street children of Gurgaon for the last 10 years. And Kalikaprasad Bhattacharjee for his passionate work to bring the unknown village artists and musicians of Bengal into the limelight. Singer Lopamudra Mitra, music composer Joy Sarkar and Rajeeb Das of Dohar recounted stories about Kalikaprasad, the man who never let the trappings of fame extinguish his passion for music and love for his fellow musicians, specially those in the villages.
The program was attended by many intellectuals, dignitaries along with thousands in the audience who had thronged Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata to witness Bhalor Utsab - The Festival of Good.
