A beautiful home of one’s own

This time we are back with the third edition of Beautiful Homes and how. On day one, we invite the man who was recently the Queen’s guest to unveil our special edition with his take on how to create a beautiful home. Sabyasachi Mukherjee talks about how the present is only relevant because of the past. He says, “I have always kept the past relevant by mixing heritage with modernity and antiquity with technology.” Mukherjee vouches for a vintage home that is more “as a mood rather than the way you lay out things.” Day 2 takes you on the guided tour of modern Indian home. Design pro Sonali Rastogi defines a modern Indian as someone who is global, but is also rooted in the Indian tradition. Day 3 is all about minimalism and ace architect Hiren Patel likens minimalism to the art of Zen or the practice of yoga. He says, “To get this style right, you have to cultivate the habit of using minimal elements.

Day 4 sees renaissanc­e man Saket Sethi (a modelancho­r and a architect and furniture designer) reflect on the concept of a futurist home. The design language could be techy at one end highlighti­ng a single piece that speaks to the future.

Day 5 sees young trendy styles of home interiors as the pioneer of kitsch, Raseel Gujral Ansal defines what it means to get kitschy quirky style right in your home. She banishes the notions of it being melodramat­ic and loud and defines it as a light hearted take on things. Watch out for Beautiful Homes special from July 8 to July 12.
