Television show Pehredar Piya Ki, which shows an 18-year-old woman married to a 10-year-old, has been making news ever since the promo released. Some viewers have got the impression that the show is about paedophilia and child marriage. Actor Tejasswi Prakash (right) who plays the lead in show, says she doesn’t have a problem with people thinking that.

“I don’t blame them because that is how it has come across in the promos. We cannot deny the fact that in the show I am married to a 10-year-old kid,” says Tejasswi, who rose to popularity after playing the role of Ragini in the daily soap Swaragini. “It’s not focussing on how we are a happily married couple and that every 18-year-old should fall for a 10-year-old kid in school. The show is about the maturity that a girl at that age shows to protect a boy.”

What was her reaction when she heard the story for the first time? “I was like, ‘What? Can you repeat it?’” she laughs, and adds, “Later when I got to know the storyline in detail I understood how challenging the character is going to be and how beautiful this story is.”

Tejasswi is positive that it won’t take more than six months for the audience to fall in love with the show and her character Diya.
