Television gets a triple dose of comedy

-

What happens when one person plays three different characters? Yes, the drama and the fun increases threefold. One such intriguing story of triplets will be showcased on Sony SAB for the first time on Indian television. The upcoming light-hearted triple role fictional comedy series, Shankar Jai Kishan – 3-in-1, is about a paralysed widow (Asawari Joshi) and her triplets, Shankar, Jai and Kishan, played by Kettan Singh. Their life takes a bewildering turn after an accident, where only Kishan survives. To camouflage this harsh truth, on advice of his friend, Babbar, (Hemant Pandey) Kishan begins to live all three lives. All this, to save his mother from receiving the shock. However, his life turns upside down, when his mother emotionally blackmails him to marry and Kishan ends up marrying three sisters — Twinkle (Falak Naaz), Dimple (Kirtida Mistry) and Simple (Chitrashi Rawat).

For Kettan, it was challenging to play the roles of triplets. He plays Kishan, who is a real estate agent and a perfect ‘Jugaadu’; Shankar, who is a poised veterinary doctor, who speaks chaste Hindi; and Jai, who is a rowdy police inspector. How Kishan managed this ‘triple role ka jhol’ will be an ‘atrangi’ comedy to watch.

Neeraj Vyas, Sr. EVP & Head, Sony SAB and MAX cluster of channels, Sony Pictures Networks India, says, “This show has the right mix of comedy, mischief and drama. The hilarious situations that arise when the protagonist is seen juggling and managing three characters is worth watching. The concept is fresh. I hope viewers love it.” Shankar Jai Kishan – 3-in1 premieres from Tuesday, August 8. Every Monday to Friday at 10pm on Sony SAB.
