Randeep comes forward to save the national animal
Actor Randeep Hooda is known for voicing his concerns on issues that matter. The recent cause that caught his notice was tiger conservation. In July, this year, the actor shared some facts about the endangered animal in reserves and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save tigers.
“The tiger is our national animal. It’s an identity attached to the country and if I can work towards saving it, why not! I’ve always said that wildlife conservation needs a voice and after I visited Dudhwa National Park, I heard stories that tiger has been in danger. As a citizen, one should contribute to the country for it’s not just the government’s job,” he says.
Asked if he intends to use his celebrity status to bring about a change, Randeep says, “I’m not involved in this process as an actor but as an independent citizen. I go on the ground and do work often, so it’s not just a tweet or a Facebook post. My celebrity status is secondary to my process of helping out and saving tigers.”
Expressing his concern towards tiger conversation, the actor feels that it’s a bit hypocritical and selfish for people in cities to look down upon villagers of rural areas that is around these national parks “To save a tiger’s habitat, the right awareness has to reach forest dwellers. If you make their lives better, they will do their bit to save the tiger,” says the actor.
