‘Mass or class, a film can be for both’
The team of Baadshaho — actors Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Ileana D’Cruz, Vidyut Jammwal and director Milan Luthria — is in celebratory mode after garnering great numbers in the opening weekend.
The film has performed well in metros and small towns across multiplexes and older theatres, say the makers. “It’s a myth that films fall into either the “mass” or “class” category, or “single screens” or “multiplexes” because Baadshaho has broken these notions,” says a source.
On Friday, the film earned `12.60 crore at the box-office, on Saturday the collections went up to `15.60 cr and on Sunday, it raked in `15.10 cr. Even after the weekend, the film did a brisk business of `6.82 cr on Monday and `6.12 cr on Tuesday, taking the total collection to `56.24 cr, according to a number of box-office reports online.
Luthria says, “It’s a different experience that I’ve tried to give to the viewer and am glad it got accepted well. It’s difficult to make films that reach out to a large variety of people. So somewhere, we have achieved that.”
Producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series adds, “It has been a fruitful journey. We’ve had an extensive marketing and music campaign, and the film has given us very good opening results. I’m sure the appreciation will sustain.”
Baadshaho, directed by Milan Luthria, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Milan Luthria released on Sept 1, 2017.
