Ayushmann and Bhumi in celebratory mood

- Sneha Mahadevan

Ahumorous narrative with an adult subject, realistic performances by the cast, witty one-liners and apt music has made director R Prasanna’s Bollywood debut film, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, a resounding success at the box-office.

Ayushmann Khurrana, the lead actor of the film, is ecstatic with the response. “It wasn’t easy bringing forth the problem of a sexual disorder in a humorous manner. But looking at the favourable response, especially from families, I’m glad all my efforts paid off,” he says.

His co-star Bhumi Pednekar adds, “I’m overwhelmed by the response. I always had faith in the script, and in my director and writer. Watching your good instinct and hard work turn into a great film is a beautiful feeling. I want to thank our audiences for loving our characters, Mudit and Sugandha, this much”

Sunil Lulla, managing director, Eros International, says, “At Eros, we feel blessed that our efforts to do something different in the family genre space are resonating with the audience. We loved being part of this journey right from its scripting stage to its postproduction stage and release.”

Word of mouth and positive reviews from the critics, audiences, trade and the Bollywood fraternity has managed to get good number of footfalls for this family entertainer. Filmmaker Aanand L Rai says, “We’re happy with the audience’s response to our film. It is delightful that families are watching it together making it truly a fun, family entertainer.”
