This royal blue jacket-style lehenga by fashion designer Rohit Bal was an instant pick for our shoot, for its velvet-y brilliance. The fabric makes the garment look richer, the silver embroidery adds to the elegance, while the exaggerated sleeves give it a regal vibe. It’s perfect for your engagement function or reception. The side-parted curled hair add to the relaxed feel of the occasion. We completed Sana Khan’s look with a gigantic maang-tikka, earrings with pearls, and soft smokey eyes with nude lips.
You think bridalwear, and the colour red is most likely to pop up in your mind for your D-Day look. But a true fashionista would pick blue — the colour of the season in bridalwear this year. As designers showcased the best of weddingwear at the couture week in Delhi this July, one thing was evident: the change in bridal colour palette. Fashion mavens including Anita Dongre, Anju Modi, Rohit Bal and Reynu Taandon showcased an array of saris and lehengas in shades of blue. Back in 2015, some to-be brides might have Mix shades of blue for your ensemble, and you’d be pleased with the result. This stitched lehenga-sari by designer Anju Modi is a great example. A glitter drawn inspiration from the blue lehenga choli that actor Sonam Kapoor donned for the poster of her film, Dolly Ki Doli. However, from a rarity, the colour has gone on to become the new red in bridalwear.
