HOLLYWOOD BOLLYWOOD TELEVISION MUSIC ‘DUTT SIR PRAISING YOU REALLY COUNTS’

- Monika Rawal Kukreja monika.rawal@htlive.com SIDHANT GUPTA,

Sanjay Dutt’s aura is tough to match,” says an excited Sidhant Gupta, as he gushes each time he mentions the Bollywood star’s name. Siddhant, who is working with Dutt in Bhoomi, says it’s a strange feeling to have seen someone’s journey on-screen while growing up, and one day, get to work with him in a film.

“I can’t even remember since when I’ve been watching his films — Khalnayak to Munnabhai MBBS... He has done over 180 films. Getting to share screen space with him is a blissful feeling,” says Sidhant.

Was he nervous? Hell, yeah! “But Sanjay sir is someone who’d make you comfortable. After I shot for the song Will You Marry Me? He called me and praised me for 10 minutes over the phone, and then called me home for dinner with the entire crew,” shares Sidhant, who feels that such gestures are an encouragement for newcomers. “When it comes from somebody of his stature, it really counts. It means everything to you at that point of time. You have that blood rush that you are capable of reaching the height.”

The actor, who has been part of the TV show Tashan-e-Ishq and dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, recalls meeting director Omung Kumar for the film. “I could see it in his eyes that I am that person he was looking for. There was a look test with Aditi [Rao Hydari] that led me to this role,” says Sidhant, adding, “Before that too, my TV journey has been good and the best part is that I am only moving forward.”
