Actor Arjun Kapoor doesn’t take his success for granted. The actor prefers to use his status as a public figure to sway people towards causes, which need attention. Currently, he’s out on a mission to advocate for girl education and women’s empowerment.

He says, “Growing up in an environment full of women, I have realised the importance of women in my life. I would be nowhere without having the correct women in my life, who are empowered with education; [whom] society allowed to breathe and become the people they are.”

He has joined hands with the campaign Girl Rising, which is all for educating women. The 32-year old, who also starred in the 2016 film Ki & Ka, which contradicted the gender roles placed upon women and men in Indian society, adds, “Education basic necessity hai, sabka haq hai (Education is basic necessity, everyone has a right to education). Who said that men deserve it and women need to work hard for it? It has been going on for years without being questioned, and change has to start from the youth today. Women are not allowed to make choices — choices are made for them. It’s rooted in our patriarchal society. It bothers me. Meri zindagi ke faisle koi aur kaise kar sakta hai? Everyone should be an independent human being.”
