MUNNA BHAI WON’T GO TO AMERICA
Sanjay Dutt confirms the next film of the series will be set in India
Sanjay Dutt (left), who is best known for his character of Munna Bhai from the film series of the same name, has said that scripting of the next Munna Bhai film is in progress. However, contrary to earlier reports, it will not be on the lines of, Munna Bhai Chale America.
Asked about the teaser of the film released years ago, and if the film would be on the lines of the teaser, Dutt says, “No, I don’t think so. Since I can’t get an American visa, it’s not going to happen.”
On the film’s (Munna Bhai) progress, Dutt says, “As far as I know, from the conversations with Rajuji (Raj Kumar Hirani) and Vinodji (Vidhu Vinod Chopra), scripting is going on right now. As soon as they finish shooting for the biopic (on Sanjay Dutt), Rajuji will start working on the script (of Munna Bhai) himself. And I am hoping by everyone’s wishes and God’s grace, the film will be ready by next year.”
Currently, Dutt is working on promoting his comeback film, Bhoomi. Asked if he is feeling nervous about appearing in a film after three years (his last film was PK in 2014), Dutt says, “I am not feeling nervous. The trailer has been appreciated and people have also liked the songs, but I hope people like the film, since we have all worked hard for it. It is a commercial entertainer with a message.”
The film is a revenge drama that centers around the relationship between a father and a daughter. The film’s cast includes actor Aditi Rao Hydari and Sidhant Gupta.
