‘Doing small roles in films helped me’

Actor Sandeepa Dhar is excited about the current phase of her career, where she is essaying lead roles in big-budget films. After her Bollywood debut with Isi Life Mein (2010), she went on to do cameos for Dabangg 2 (2012) and Heropanti (2014). She played the role of actor Kriti Sanon’s sister in Heropanti and was seen as the bride who was saved by Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg 2.

“I never thought about the length of the roles. It was more important for me to see the kind of people I am working with. For instance, when Salman Khan offered Dabangg 2, I knew it was something I had to be a part of. And since we both began our respective acting careers with the same production house, we share a connect,” says Sandeepa.

Similarly, the actor agreed to work in Tiger Shroff starrer Heropanti because she liked the energy of the film. “Though I had a brief role, my work got appreciated,” she adds. Asked if she feels concerned about being stereotyped in supporting roles, the 28-year old says, “I was never worried about getting typecast and luckily that didn’t even happen. I don’t think this thing even exists in the industry anymore. I have never regretted any decision. In fact, I have benefitted by doing such roles because the films were successful.”
