Hansal, Kangana’s gastronomi­cal getaways abroad

National Award winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s (above, right) forthcomin­g film, Simran, starring Kangana Ranaut (above, left) is a story about a 30-year-old Gujarati girl Praful Patel, who is witty, whacky, full of life and ends up embroiled in crimes.

Apparently, while shooting for the film in Atlanta, USA, both Kangana and selfconfes­sed foodie Hansal, often found the time to sample some interestin­g restaurant­s and eclectic cuisines. The actor-director tried out different eateries and bonded over cuisines ranging from local southern to Mexican to Italian to Pan Asian to Gujarati.

Speaking about their food escapades Hansal says, “I love food as I believe it is the secret to happiness. In fact one of the high points of shooting Simran in USA was the huge variety of restaurant­s and cuisines. I enjoyed scouting for restaurant­s on our break days.” What’s more, the filmmaker and his leading lady took a food route to de-stress as well. “I would de-stress over conversati­ons and fantastic meals with Kangana. Both of us share a spirit of adventure, both in the kind of films we make and the food we relish.”

A T-Series, Karma Features Pvt. Ltd. and Adarsh Telemedia film, Simran produced by Bhushan Kumar and Shailesh R Singh is set to release on September 15.
