PRIYANKA’S WHITE MIGHT AT THE EMMY AWARDS

Priyanka Chopra decided to not play it safe at the gala, and looks like the risk paid off

After romancing red and twirling much on the Emmys red carpet last year, Priyanka Chopra took quite a risk at the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, when she changed up her look dramatically. For the awards gala held in Los Angeles, US, on Sunday evening, the Bollywood diva wore a custom-made gown by the French label Balmain — a favourite of the Kardashians, among many other Hollywood stars.

That PeeCee loves going for white is evident (remember her last two Oscar appearances?), but this time, the Quantico actor also changed it up by adding a feathered train to her all-white look. The quilted gown fit Priyanka like a glove, and also featured intricate detailing by way of mirrored embellishments and repeat motifs. Styled by Cristina Ehrlich (who also did the styling for actors like Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Uzo Aduba at this year’s Emmys), the makeup was done by Pati Dubroff, and featured a matte lip and smokey eyes, both in shades of fall purple.

Priyanka, 35, made it to many a best dressed list globally and fashion designers back home also were impressed. “Priyanka looked lovely. The perfect body deserves the perfect bodycon dress with a dramatic detail. Even with the most exquisite embroidery, Priyanka managed to keep the look balanced with the perfect hair and makeup. She sure was a headturner!” said Anand Bhushan.

For Nikhil Mehra, too, the body-snug vibe was a winner, though the designer wasn’t a big fan of the detailing. “Priyanka is in such great shape and the dress silhouette works on her. But personally, I think that it distracts from her beauty... less is more for her,” says Mehra.
