Actor Renee Dhyani, who shot to fame after she participated in the reality show Roadies and later came on Bigg Boss, too, is more than happy with the way her career is shaping up. Having been part of a daily soap, she is now starring in a historical serial, portraying a negative role.

“I am very happy playing negative roles since I am being compared to the iconic character of Komolika [played by Urvashi Dholakia], who was the vamp in the show Kasautii Zindagii Kay. I loved her character, and never thought that I will get a chance to live my dream,” says Renee. Calling herself a blessed child, Renee adds, “In just four years, I have got a chance to feature in big shows. I have seen people who have struggled for 20 years and done nothing. My audience loves me so much, but one thing’s for sure; I don’t want to be a part of any TV dramas now.”

The actor is also aware that the Indian audience has become way more choosy about the content they want to watch. “People today are practical and smart. The current generation is aware about what they want to spend time on. I always tell the makers of my shows to make my character such that it instantly connects with the audience. It has to be interesting. I don’t want ki ek hi expression mein poora episode nikal jaaye (that I keep emoting one expression throughout the episode).”

Talking about the varied characters she’s playing, she says, “My current show is a costume drama...I have to wear heavy lehengas and jewellery, whereas in my previous show, I played the role of a Delhi girl who loves taking selfies.”
