RANBIR-MAHIRA A COUPLE NOW?
Smoking hot! That’s the temperature of rumours after the actors were clicked puffing in New York
Pictures of Ranbir Kapoor (in his look from the Sanjay Dutt biopic) and Pakistani actor Mahira Khan (in a backless white dress), smoking outside a restaurant in New York City, have taken social media by the storm. The photos went viral on Thursday night, but were taken in July — this has added more fuel to the speculation about their romance.
Reacting, Ranbir’s father, senior actor Rishi Kapoor, tells us exclusively, “I also saw this picture in the morning, on Twitter. Ranbir is a young star, a bachelor, and he can meet anybody he wants to. He could’ve just met her there. They must’ve been in a restaurant or a place where they can’t smoke.” In July, Ranbir was shooting in New York for the biopic, being directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
Another thing that caught people’s eye was a red mark on Mahira’s back. Rubbishing a report by a website that this was a love bite, a source close to her says, “This is a surgery scar. Mahira had this cyst for [more than a year] and one could see it even on the sets of Raees. She got the surgery done early this year.”
While Ranbir and Mahira have always denied dating, an insider says that it has been the talk of the town in Bollywood. “This has been going on hush-hush for a while now,” says a producer, on the condition of anonymity.
Apparently, it all started when the two attended the Global Teacher Prize Ceremony in Dubai in March this year, walking the red carpet together — their chemistry sizzled. Reportedly, it was Pakistani actor Fawad Khan who introduced Mahira to Ranbir at a party overseas, and they clicked instantly and have been ‘friends’ ever since.
