BOLLYWOOD ‘STILL GETTING THE HANG OF MY CRAFT’

Actor-comedian Sunil Grover has not stopped making news ever since he walked out of The Kapil Sharma Show in March this year, following his infamous mid-air brawl with fellow comedian Kapil Sharma. Recently, while Kapil’s show has been taken off air — with reruns being aired in a different slot — speculation is rife that Sunil is set to start his new show, though no confirmation has been given so far.

Also, just as he did in the aftermath of his fight with Kapil, this time, too, Sunil has remained silent over the show going off the air. Meanwhile, asked about his journey so far on television, Sunil says that he’s still getting the hang of his craft. “It has been a learning process of how to do humour, improve my comic timing, and understand the language of humour better. All this helps me in making whatever I am a part of, a success,” he says.

Referring to how comedy shows nowadays are featuring comedians from other shows as well, he says, “We try newer things, as we don’t know what may or may not connect with the audience. A running show needs breathing space, so we bring in fresh faces.”

On why such innovations are important, he adds, “Most of the times, the show’s longevity increases. But it also depends on the changes that makers are introducing — only after implementing, do you get to know whether they will work or not.”
